The Curse Of The King

Zechariah 12:1-14 

·  In Chapters 9–11 we saw “oracle” (a message coming from God) concerning neighboring nations (9:1);

· Then in chapters 12–14 we see “The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel,”

o  Which is an “oracle” is concerning Israel (12:1).

·  These two sections are quite similar.

·  Both are an expansion and continuation of ideas

o  in the visions of the first eight chapters,

o  the same ideas recurring again and again in different dress.

· The phrase “In that day.” is found in (12:3–4, 6, 8, 9, 11; 13:1, etc),

o  found previously only in 9:16.

· This sort of writing is futuristic, symbolical and often cryptic.

o  It deals with the last days but is often addressed to the present.
