Opportunities to Serve

The First Impressions Ministry provides warm welcomes, friendly smiles, and personal connections to our visitors and church family.  It is a great responsibility to be that “FIRST IMPRESSION”  to those who walk through our doors on Sunday morning but also a wonderful privilege and great joy to share the love of Christ as we welcome people into the family!

The First Impressions Ministry offers the opportunity to serve in team ministry in many areas:

Greeters

If you like to put on your best smile, make others feel welcome, and have a heart to serve, this is the team for you. We need greeters at all our weekly services. Men and women.  This is also a great way for married couples to serve together. Greet those who come through the doors of our church while making them feel welcomed unconditionally.

Other areas of this ministry are greeting and helping people to become familiar with our services and ministries (and how to get involved)

Ushers

The ushers provide service to all those attending Calvary Chapel Hilo. Ushers greet you with a smile and are prepared to offer assistance in getting seated, directing you to where you need to go or offering a word of prayer when needed.  Ushers also provide a type of security for the Church, from the parking lot to the Sanctuary, and everywhere else in the Church. You can always find an Usher nearby prepared to assist you.

The Ushers also assist the maintenance staff in ensuring that Church facilities are clean and prepared for your attendance. Please notify an Usher should you find anything out of the ordinary during your visit and they will see that the problem is corrected.

Transportation Team

We need volunteers who can provide rides, to and from church, for those who have no transportation.

Prayer Team

We are blessed to be called Children of God with access to the Father. Before and after service, if you are in need of prayer we would like to pray for you. Or please submit a prayer request online or drop in our offering box.

Philippians 4:6-7 declares "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

It is a blessing to be of service to you and to join you in worshiping our Heavenly Father through prayer.

You may desire to be part of the Prayer Team praying throughout the week for the needs of our church body that come from our prayer hotline. Urgent Prayer Needs are brought before the Lord by a team of e-mail prayer partners.

Production Volunteers

Works alongside the worship team to produce and record the best quality sound, to the glory of God.

Throughout the Old Testament, God through His prophets cried out to the people telling them to hear the Word of the Lord. At CCHilo, we place a great emphasis on teaching the Word of God. With the teaching of God's Word being the centerpiece of every service, it is the responsibility of the Sound Ministry to use the tools and equipment that God has provided to enable us all to hear. Training is required.

Projection Volunteers

Serving the body of Christ at Calvary Chapel by facilitating projection needs during our services on Sunday mornings and at special services or events. This key ministry is responsible for the projection of song lyrics, study notes and special presentations and requires basic computer skills.

Food Closet

We have the privilege of providing food to the families in our church body who go through financial difficulties.  Each week we box up food and prepare it for distribution.  If you have time during office hours to help us out, we would welcome you!
